Joe Gyurcsak - April Guest Speaker

Joe Gyurcsak.






Mr. Gyurcsak has won numerous awards for his paintings; most recently,
"Best Regional Landscape" in the 2008 Phillips Mill Exhibition.
He has written for and been featured in several art publications too, including
American Artist Magazine
.

Mr. Gyurcsak is the resident artist for Utrecht Art Supplies. As an art materials expert, he assists artists, and company and industry manufacturers on all aspects of materials and techniques. Joseph has lectured at F.I.T., S.V.A., R.I.S.D., the National Academy of Design, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Miami International University of Art and Design.

This lecture covers the historical beginnings of oil color all the way up to modern day manufacturing; in addition to, explaining the chemistry and coatings technology behind artists oil colors.

The AOY monthly meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Yardley-Makefield Branch of the Bucks County Free Library, 1080 Edgewood Road. Meetings are free and open to the public.

"GREYSTOKE FLOOR LAMP"

"For years I've been scouring estate sales and auctions, searching for interesting, old lamp parts to recycle with my new stonework and Raku elements.
Each lamp has gently restored parts from the 1920's to today. I make the stoneware and Raku elements in my studio in Bucks County, PA." Each lamp is one of a kind and is completely rewired.

Fran Leyenberger is a resident of Yardley, PA. Originally from Newport, RI, she attended The College of William and Mary and has been working in clay for over 30 years.
