Wordsmiths – The Bucks Reading Series presents Marie Kane reading with Eugene Howard and Terry Culleton at The Orangery – Bucks County Community College Newtown Campus.  

Marie is the 2006 Bucks County Poet Laureate.  She retired from teaching high school English in 2007, and continues to influence young poets as a coach and tutor.  She has received a recognition award for her poetry from the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts, and an award for the teaching of young writers from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.  She is widely published and has achieved national recognition in various poetry contests. 

The event is free and open to the public

Light refreshments will be provided.

Janny is not the white house!!! It is the brown stone house that sits back from the road.

If you are driving on Mirror Lake from Edgewood/Yardley Langhorne Rds towards 332, it is the first driveway on the left. The second driveway goes to the white house that sits on the road.

On Saturday and Sunday, January 30 and 31, from 2pm to 4pm, you can visit the Janney House and see how wonderful it is in the daylight!

I will be there and can be reached at 215-479-3689 if you have any trouble finding your way.

If you have any spare floor or table lamps, no matter how beautiful or unattractive - we can use them until we can install lighting!! Our founding fathers worked well by candle light but, our house does have electricity. We also have some tables and lots of chairs.

Live Model Drawing and Painting Sessions

John's work is classically based and includes people and pet portraits, plein air landscapes, figurative work, angels and still-lifes.

The school offers Atelier training, a classical European training method of learning how to see and handle materials. The school also offers lessons in the form of classes, private instruction and portfolio preparation for high school students who are college bound.

The studio and school are located in the heart of Bucks County on a 13 acre farm surrounded by tall majestic pine trees and fields. Truly an ideal and serene environment to create art.

Going on now...

Every Monday from 10am to 1pm. 3 (one hour) poses of a live model.

Every Wednesday from 10am to 1pm. 1 (three hour) pose of a live model.

Every Friday from 10am to 1pm. 1 (three hour) pose of a portrait model.

Model will usually repeat multiple sessions.

$12.00 for a single visit.

$10.00 a session if paying for two or more sessions

Thanks to Heather Davulcu and Bill Hogan for their top-notch service to the AOY. They decided not to run for re-election... Heather, our excellent secretary who never missed a beat, and Bill, who helped to guide us well for two years.

Our member speaker is Ken Cabot. Ken is a photographer who also works in stained glass creating lamps, window hangings, and boxes. He creates glass jewelry and mosaics incorporating tile, glass and stone. Ken combines pounded and twisted wire with all of his works.
