AOY Member Spotlight - Jean Childs Buzgo

Jean Childs Buzgo is an oil painter and graphic designer. Art has always been her love. She majored in art in high school and received two art scholarships her senior year. She also took Saturday classes at Moore College of Art during her junior and senior years of high school. She graduated from The College of New Jersey with a major in graphic design and a minor in illustration. As a student at The College of New Jersey, she won an award for best in show at the college art gallery and won best portfolio at the annual portfolio review.

Her first professional job was at Tsumura International as a bath and home fragrance packaging designer where she worked on international brands consisting of Vitabath, Vitabath Naturals, Fitz and Floyd, Claire Burke home fragrances and several private label bath designs. She later joined Warner-Lambert as a packaging designer where she worked on many well-known brands such as Listerine, Lubriderm, Neosporin, Benadryl, Sudafed, Visine and Zantac, and many others. One of her most notable achievements was having her design selected from among many design agencies for the global launch of the new Listerine Pocket Paks product.

When she started a family and decided to relocate, she began working part-time as a freelance graphic designer for the next 7 years in her home studio for Warner-Lambert, which was subsequently purchased by Pfizer.

After many years as a packaging designer, Jean is now focusing on her painting career. Excited about returning to her original love of painting, Jean became a member of the Artists of Yardley and is dedicating much of her time to exploring new painting styles and pursuing opportunities to paint portraits of houses, buildings, children and loved ones.

Jean’s art style is semi-impressionistic and she likes to capture the personality and character of her subjects. She also likes to explore surrealism and whimsical designs in her portraiture by combining faces with other elements.

Jean is also currently sharing her love of art as the new art teacher at her daughter’s preschool where she is teaching one- to six-year old children.

Jean’s studio and residence are in Bucks County, PA where she lives with her husband and 2 children.
