Congratulations!

to AOY Member, Laura Robinson
now
...
Laura Morgan

Laura (Robinson) & Ed Morgan got married in Las Vegas on August 20th.

Immediate family and a few friends accompanied the couple for 6 days in Vegas. Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel was the site of the ceremony and they celebrated afterward with a wedding dinner at the Eiffel restaurant in the Paris Hotel. They saw shows and enjoyed their Vegas stay in spite of 111 degree afternoons. At the Penn & Teller Show Laura and her mom, Maggy, were called out of the audience!

Once back home, the party continued with a Pig Roast celebration at Snipes Farm on Sunday, August 30th. Live music was performed by several band members/friends from EBE Talent.

John Scott Murdoch ~ September Guest Speaker

AOY Member ~ John Scott Murdoch

Guest Speaker at the AOY monthly meeting

Wednesday, September 2nd @ 7:00pm

Bucks County Library, Edgewood Road, Yardley

John Scott Murdoch "Clementine" oil on wood

John's work has been shown in the United States and in Europe. His work has been displayed at the Ellarslie Museum in Trenton, The Lancaster Museum of Art, The Ernst Museum in Budapest, and at Mercer County College. John has been featured on “Vox Artis”, a television program featuring central New Jersey artists, and on Kulturalis Magazin, a nationwide television program in Hungary. Articles featuring John and his work have appeared in American Artist Magazine, International Artist Magazine, The New York Times, The Times, The Asbury Park Press and Time Off Magazine. John is currently showing work at Gallery Piquel in New Hope, Pennsylvania.

John attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago on a scholarship and continued his studies at Atelier LeSueur in Excelsior, Minnesota. He won the John and Anna Lee Stacey Scholarship while culminating his studies at The School of Representational Art in Chicago.

He works in traditional portraiture and still-life with an otherworldly edge. John uses oil paint, often hand ground, on canvas or wood panel. Gold leaf is often used in backgrounds. His portraits dignify the sitter. His still- lifes range from very classical to surreal with either style emphasizing organic objects.

John was born in Oak Lawn, a south suburb of Chicago, and has lived in California, Arizona, Washington, New Jersey and Minnesota. He now lives in Holicong in Buckingham Township, Pa. and maintains a studio and school there.
